Several factors can impact the cost of a video, including (but not necessarily limited to):

Not every video project will include all of these elements, therefore pricing can be variable. At Plum Productions, we price every project individually; that way you never pay for services you don’t need. For more help in choosing a video production company see the article titled 4 Suggestions to Hiring a Video Production Company.

The process includes several steps (depending on the size and complexity of the project). The process includes: Execution of the Production Agreement, Pre-Production Planning Meeting, Location Scout, Scriptwriting (if applicable), Shoot (this can be one day, several days, or a half day, depending on the project), Post Production: Editing, Client Review of First Cut, Editing Revisions (including any final cuts), and the Final Approval by Client and Delivery of Final Product. Learn more about the process  by reading Steps to Video Production.

At Plum Productions, our turnaround for a first cut of video is typically within 14 days (most times faster) from the shoot date. To learn more about production timelines, see the article How Long Does It Take to Get a Professional Video?

Video is a powerful tool for boosting your website’s SEO with many benefits, such as: (1) Higher Page Rankings on Search Engines (like Google). Google gives preference to sites with video content. (2) Reduced Bounce Rates. Visitors typically spend more time on sites when they’re watching videos. (3) Shareable Content. Videos are considered highly shareable content, so when site visitors share your video on social platforms, they organically create links to your site.

Video benefits your business in many ways, including: (1) Enhanced Search Engine Optimization, (2) Create more powerful connections with customers by sharing your story, (3) Significantly higher conversion rates, (4) Higher click through rates in emails, and (5) Improved social media presence through shareable content.
Consumers have come to expect to see video when they visit a website, and that’s a good thing! Videos give you the opportunity to clearly explain who you are and what you do. No other medium does that. For more reasons on why your company needs video, read the article 7 Reasons Why Your Business Absolutely Needs Video.

Hiring a professional video production company can be a considerable investment, so it’s important to do a little research. You should:

  1. Review their most recent finished projects, not just the demo reel.
  2. Read online reviews from sites like Google and Yelp.
  3. Ask for a list of equipment and look up the prices of that gear. If you could afford to buy it yourself, they may not be experienced or big enough to do the job you’re hiring them to do.
  4. Meet with them in person at their office to see their production facilities and discuss the project. A qualified production company will be willing to take the time to sit down with you even before you’ve signed on the dotted line. They should provide a thorough estimate in writing.
